FKCA attended the inaugural event of newly constructed houses for Kodagu Flood Relief

Bengaluru: The Federation of Konkani Catholic Associations (FKCA) organised Konkan Karavali Utsav – Food Fest on Sunday the 10th of February 2019 in aid of Kodagu Flood Relief Fund (Rehabilitation and Construction of houses) at St.Joseph’s Indian High School grounds Bangalore along with 22nd Federation Day Celebrations in the evening.

At a time when life was very difficult to those who had lost their shelters FKCA with the help of its member Associations, generous donors, philanthropists collected and donated a sum of Rs.10,00,000 to provide 2 houses through BMSS Society. This initiative was taken up by the Arch Bishop of Bangalore His Grace Most Rev Dr.Peter Machado along with the Bishop of Mysore Diocese. FKCA donated the amount through BMSS.

On 29th of October 2021 the newly constructed 39 houses were handed over to the beneficiaries. The construction of the houses originally planned got delayed due to getting permission to construct the houses on the diocesan land. Bishop of Mysore purchased land exclusively to provide houses to the beneficiaries at Kodagu. FKCA attend the inaugural event on invitation from the Arch Bishop of Bangalore.

The following members attended the event.
FKCA Chairman – Silvian Noronha, Immediate Past Chairman – Anand Edward D’Souza, Vice Chairmen – Sunil Coutinho, Anup Saldanha, Ex-Chairmen – Charels Gomes, Victor Edward D’Souza, Arun Fernandes, Past Secretary – Lawrence Saldanha and William Pinto from BKCS were present for the inaugural ceremony. The event commenced with a holy mass and thereafter felicitation to the donors. The newly built houses were blessed by our Arch Bishop of Bangalore and Bishop of Mysore along with priests present for the event.

The Bishop of Mysore and Arch Bishop of Bangalore applauded FKCA's efforts in donating the amount for construction of houses and helping those who have lost their houses. The event concluded with a fellowship meal arranged by the organising committee.
