Indiranagar Konkani Kutam (IKK) at Happy Homes, KGF - Kolar
As part of our Lenten spiritual journey, 14 members of the Indiranagar Konkani Kutam (IKK) visited
Happy Homes, KGF — a unit of the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Organisation and Service Society.
For over 35 years, Happy Homes has stood as a beacon of hope — a trusted orphanage and
rehabilitation centre dedicated to uplifting underprivileged children and communities with love,
dignity, and care.
A Journey Filled with Purpose
We began our journey from Resurrection Church, Indiranagar. Even before reaching our destination,
there was a beautiful sense of unity among us. Excitement and eagerness to serve filled our hearts,
reminding us that Lent is not only about reflection — but also about action.
A Warm Welcome
On arrival at Happy Homes, we were warmly received by Mr. Joshua and his wife, Ms. Sophia — the
founders and devoted caretakers of the institution.
Some of our members spent meaningful time interacting with the children, listening to their stories,
and understanding their daily routines. Others toured the premises, including buildings currently
under renovation, gaining insight into the ongoing needs and future plans of the Orphanage.
We later gathered at the Samudai Bhavan, where one of the girls led a short and touching prayer
song. Mr. Joshua introduced the IKK team to the children, and Ms. Sophia shared the inspiring
history of how her father began this noble mission — a mission that continues today through faith,
generosity, and goodwill.
A Moment That Touched Every Heart
One of the most emotional moments of the visit was when Ms. Sophia expressed heartfelt gratitude
to Mr. Silvian Noronha and Ms. Sharon Rego for their support in helping baby Diya (name changed)
come out successfully from Club Foot Disease.
Diya, who had moved on her knees since birth, was first noticed during a previous visit. Through
sincere and persistent efforts — particularly Ms. Sharon Rego’s dedicated coordination with doctors
and Happy Homes — Diya successfully underwent surgery at St. John's Hospital.
Seeing her walk was a moment beyond words — a moment that brought tears of gratitude and
immense joy to everyone present. It was a living reminder that compassion, when combined with
determination, can truly transform lives.
Sharing a Meal, Sharing Love
A special lunch was sponsored by IKK, and our members lovingly served the children. Sitting together
and sharing a meal created a beautiful atmosphere filled with smiles, laughter, and warmth.
As part of our outreach initiative, we also donated ₹25,000 towards the institution’s ongoing needs -
a small contribution toward a very meaningful cause.
More Than an Outreach
This Lenten outreach was not merely an act of charity. It was:
* A reaffirmation of faith in action
* A celebration of unity and service
* A reminder that even small efforts can create lasting impact
* A testimony that love, when shared, multiplies
We returned home with hearts full of gratitude, strengthened in faith, and inspired to continue
serving with love and unity.
Because sometimes, the greatest miracles begin with a simple decision to care.
