Meet the multi-talented ‘The Lobo Sisters’

Ms. Jennifer Pearline Lobo and Ms. Andrea Michelle Lobo, well known as ‘The Lobo Sisters’. and their parents Praveen George Lobo and Zaveena Lobo belongs to Christa Karunalaya Church, Jaraganahalli, Bengaluru.

Jennifer, an introvert was born on 8th Nov’2003 did her entire schooling at Carmel Convent School, Jayanagar, Bangalore. She stepped into Christ Junior College, Baneergatta Road to pursue her higher studies in Science. Her first stage performance was a group dance for a Konkani song “suryachi kirna, moga purzalith athan…” in 2012 at FKCA Event. It was a real challenge for her as she had zero knowledge in dance. She realised that her dance compared to her team mates was not up to the mark and so she decided to learn dancing skills and the only option was to join Bharatanatyam classes. Giving regular stage performances made her more confident and motivated her to take up bigger challenges in life. She took all the feedback and worked on them to become a better version of herself. Today she is not only known for her dance but also for being a National Champion and a Black Belt in Karate.

Andrea, a hyperactive kid and Jennifer’s younger sister was born on 22nd Sep’2006 is also a product of Carmel Convent and is in 9th grade. She followed Jennifer’s rulebook and owns the same credit of being a Bharatanatyam dancer, National Champion and a Black Belt in Karate. But she wanted to do things differently. Her interest in sports was noticed by her sports teacher and to make the best use of her energy and personality she trained Andrea in Throw ball, Volleyball and Athletics. As if it was not enough, she also joined Cricket Academy to pursue her passion. To add more feathers in her cap, she is a –
- State Throwball player for Karnataka
- Cricketer who has played probable matches under KSCA
- State level shotput player.

The Lobo Sisters have a never give up attitude and leave no stone unturned when they want to excel. They believe that “If you have a dream, don’t settle, gather courage and venture into the untrodden path to make it a reality.”

Jennifer Pearline Lobo

Ms. Jennifer Pearline Lobo, the elder daughter of Mr. Praveen George Lobo & Zaveena Lobo is pursuing II PUC (Science) at Christ Junior College, Bannergatta Road, Bengaluru. She is pursuing Bharatanatyam for the past 6 years under the tutelage of her Guru, Smt. Gowri Sagar. She has already performed in more than 60 live shows which were conducted by organizational groups like FKCA, Konkani Samudai, Government Organized-School Level Competition called Pratibha Karanji, Carmel Convent School events, Corporate Events and her dance school events. She has secured 91% in her Bharatanatyam Junior Grade State Board Exam and was also awarded as a winner in the State Level Bharatanatyam by Shrusti Kala Mandir in 2018.

One look at her personality and you get a feeling that she is a sensitive and delicate darling, but then you are completely mistaken. It is a surprise to everyone when she proudly says that she is a National Level Karate Champion and moreover holds this title for the past 6 years, i.e. since 2014. She has won 29 Awards in District, State & National Level Tournaments in Kata and Kumite events. She is also recognised with Sho-Dan i.e. Black Belt in Karate by Shito-Tyu Karate Do International India in 2016.

Jennifer not only tried her hands with dance and karate but also excelled in Spell Bee wherein she has secured 4th rank in Viz National Spell Bee competition held in Mar’2018. She is a budding talent who never lets an opportunity go. She also has a liking for music and so she learnt carnatic classical singing and is well versed of all the taalas and raagas.

She can be called as jack of all and master of all because she has been very consistent in her studies as well and secured 88% in 10th Board exam. She was awarded as one of the Best Students in academic performance in 2019 by Carmel Convent High School.

Having a religious bent, she has taken part in various church activities like altar service, lector, and choir member “My Soul Sings Children’s Choir” at Christa Prabhalaya Church, Jayanagar. Being part of the church youth committee, Jennifer has participated in the Indian Catholic Youth Movement-Archdiocese of Bangalore, in Reach Out 2018 & 2019–“Minute to Fame” and won II & III place respectively. She also stood first in Std 10th diocese catechism at school and had an opportunity to represent her school at diocesan level. She has also actively participated in inter-school scripture quiz conducted by Serra Club of Bangalore in 2018.

Coming from a Konkani Catholic background she also uplifted her mother tongue Konkani by participating in the All India Konkani Poetry Reciting Competition held at Mangalore & Goa in Jan’2019 & Jan’2020. She has also participated and won several awards in Konkani cultural and sports activities conducted by FKCA and Kalanjali events. Jennifer has been recognized by Konkani Samudai for her achievements for 5 consecutive years since 2014 and last year she was felicitated for her achievements in various fields.

She also got an opportunity to represent her school & State in KIIT Nanhi Pari Little Miss India Beauty Contest 2018 at Bubaneshwar, Odisha and was one of the top 10 contestants out of 1360 contestants across the country.

With this Jennifer, being an all-rounder, has proved that the difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra effort that you have put in. She believes that the price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.

Andrea Michelle Lobo

Ms. Andrea Michelle Lobo, a 13-year-old, studies in Carmel Convent School, Bangalore. She is the younger daughter of Mr. Praveen George Lobo & Zaveena Lobo.

Considering her elder sister, Jennifer as a role model, Andrea had a roadmap laid for her on the path to success. She always puts in hard work tempered with self-discipline to chart her own journey of success. Literally following the footsteps of her sister, Andrea too learnt Bharatanatyam under the tutelage of her Guru, Smt. Gowri Sagar. She is an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer having given more than 38 performances on various stages like FKCA, Konkani Samudai, Government Organized-School Level Competition called Pratibha Karanji, Carmel Convent School events, Corporate Events and her dance school events. She has secured 83.25% in her Bharatanatyam Junior Grade State Board Exam in 2018. Keeping in tune with the dance lessons, she has as also learnt carnatic classical singing and is well aware of all the taalas and raagas. This has only added to the refinement of her dancing ability.

Highlighting her sports achievements, Andrea is a National Level Karate champion and holds this title for the past 6 years, i.e. since 2014. She has won 31 Awards at District, State & National Level in Kata and Kumite events. She was also recognised with Sho-Dan i.e. Black Belt in Karate by Shito-Tyu Karate Do International India in 2018.

In throw ball, Andrea represented her school in 2019 at the District level tournament, where her team won the runners-up cup. She has been selected by the Karnataka State Throw ball Association for sub-junior level team this year.

In athletics, she has represented her school in Discuss Throw at District level and Shot-put at State Level.

Her passion for cricket started in 2017 while playing gully cricket with her friends near her house. To nurture this passion, she joined Heron’s Cricket Academy in 2018. In Nov’2019 she was shortlisted by Karnataka State Cricket Association in the Under 16 women’s team and had an opportunity to play zonal matches with the leading State Cricketers. In Mar’2020 Women’s Day Cricket Match conducted by DNI Sports, she was declared the Player of the match.

Apart from co-curricular activities Andrea has also blazed a trail in her academics’ track. She has been recognized by her school as a distinction holder in each class.

In Dec’19 she also tried her hands on beauty pageant and was awarded as KIIT- Karnataka Little Miss India 2019.

Hailing from a Konkani catholic background Andrea takes special pride in her mother tongue, Konkani. She has also participated and won several awards in Konkani cultural activities conducted by Kalanjali events. Andrea has been recognized by Konkani Samudai for her achievements for 5 consecutive years since 2014 and was felicitated last year for her achievements in all the fields.
